1. Used an old crankshaft from a 351 sbf motor, welded brake rotors on either end and made it into an end table
2. Valve Cover Coat Hanger: Used a pair of old sbf valve covers, refurbished them, welded spark plugs onto it and made it into a coat hanger. The valve covers even have a breather filter.
3. Piston Clock: Used sbf piston and rods and made them into a clock, a barometer and a thermometer.
4. Brake Rotor Book Ends: Used a brake rotor to make some book ends. The aim was to add a brake caliper as well but never got around to it.
5. Wheel Shelf: Used a pair of old wheels, refurbished and welded them to a 1 ¼” OD 1010 round steel tubing. Added a 1” by 18” wood round at the top to act as a shelf. The bottom wheel is supposed to get a wood round as well. A 13” brake rotor acts as a base and the 1 ¼” OD steel tube is welded to it.
6. Tailgate Coffee Table: Used 4 by 4 cedar held together by pergola brackets to make a tailgate coffee table. The table is topped off with a ½” thick glass top. The GMC square body diesel tailgate measures 67” by 23” so it’s a good size coffee table. The glass top comes in two pieces and can be joined together to look like one.
7 .Christmas Tree: Instead of throwing away all the scrap 4 by 4, I made it into a Christmas tree. I welded a 1” by 7’ solid steel rod to a 13” brake rotor, drilled and stacked up all the 4 by 4 on it.
8. Tailgate Bench: Squarebody tailgate bench using 4 by 4, 2 by 4 and 5/4 by 6 cedar boards. Topped it off with functional brake lights.
